Hello

The Former Massachusetts State Police Association (FMSTA) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization established on December 8, 1949, to foster camaraderie, maintain a line of communication with former members of the Massachusetts State Police, and provide support to all who have served or are serving the Department, both sworn and civilian, in times of financial need.

The Association is non-political and functions to promote the organizational strength and achievements of the Massachusetts State Police in their moral and legal obligation to serve and
protect the citizens and guests of the Commonwealth.

The Board consists of 12 unpaid volunteer members. Membership is open to all former members of the Massachusetts State Police who served honorably for at least one year, except for individuals separated from the Department under less than honorable conditions. Troopers who retired on a disability pension are eligible to apply regardless of years-of-service.

The FMSTA makes charitable donations to our members and active-duty troopers and/or their families in need of assistance. The FMSTA supports the Benevolent Fund for the State Police
Association of Massachusetts
and the Commissioned Officers Association and interacts with them on pending legislation that affects our members. We also support and endorse the Massachusetts State Police Museum and Learning Center, raising thousands of dollars each year through member solicitations on their behalf. In addition, the FMSTA provides notification of all deaths of State Police Officers and their immediate families and honor their memory through social media.

The FMSTA co-sponsors the MSP Annual Memorial Service in June with the Department to commemorate all MSP personnel who died in the previous 12 months. It hosts a four-day gathering in Naples, Florida, to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day weekend, including marching in the Naples parade. Every fall, the FMSTA holds an annual meeting and luncheon, awarding the FMSTA "Trooper of the Year" for outstanding police service in the line-of-duty, as well as an "Esprit de Corps Award" to a member for exceptional service to the FMSTA. Additionally, we grant several scholarships to children or grandchildren of members. An in-house monthly newsletter is published to maintain open communication with all former and current members of the MSP.
